We welcome our 24th Conservation Easement!

It is with great enthusiasm that we announce the addition of a very special conservation easement. This 40 acre property in Sheboygan County belongs to two founding members of Glacial Lakes Conservancy, Mike Sorenson and Kristi Pietsch-Sorenson ! This land is now protected forever from development, fragmentation, or degradation of it's resources.

Property Story

This property includes 27 acres of working land, 9.5 acres of southern mesic forest, apx. 2 acres of historic stone fences believed to have been built by Native Americans, and areas of state-identified wetlands. This property is situated on the top of a moraine, .5 miles from the Onion River and 2.3 miles from Nichols Creek and is within the Onion River water basin which is part of the Sheboygan Area of Concern (AOC).  The terms of this conservation easement will help preserve the Sheboygan River Basin, protect farmland and open space, and will ensure sound land management practices to reduce non-point pollution as well as provide diverse and native habitat for wildlife.
