Old Red Mill Farm is a property that has been cherished by the Hansen family for decades as part of their family farm and it is now preserved for future generations. The property was grazed and now consists of a young mixed hardwood forest, open fallow land with beautiful prairie flowers, a small pond, and wetlands located on the Niagara Escarpment. A spring fed stream runs through the middle of the property and drains into the Lake Winnebago. It contains about 280 feet of the Niagara Escarpment where you have a beautiful view of the lake from the top of an approximate 150-foot slope. Artifacts from 9-10,000 BC through the 1800’s have been found on and near this property and are recorded on the Wisconsin Historic Preservation Database Archaeological Site Inventory, listing it as a multiple-component site.
Deer can be found here along with numerus species of amphibians and salamanders. Numerous birds such as Bald Eagles, Red Breasted Grosbeak, and Eastern Phoebes can be spotted on this property during the year.
