Marian Cramer
Marian grew up on a dairy farm in Dousman, Wisconsin where she first found her love for nature. With four children and a tiny farm house, her parents encouraged Marian and her siblings to spend as much time outside as possible. Marian spent most of her days exploring their nearly 180 acres of land. Whether it was building stick forts in the back of cow pastures, taking her dogs on walks through the woods, or sneaking cherry tomatoes from her mom’s garden, Marian has always loved any activity that involves being outdoors. Currently, Marian is studying creative writing and English at Lakeland University with future plans to work as an editor. She writes in all genres and has experience with a wide variety of styles from fiction to professional writing, although her favorite is poetry. She plans to pursue her master’s degree in poetry with the goal of publishing her own book one day. While looking for a summer internship, Marian’s English professor helped her find Glacial Lakes’ application and she knew she could combine her love of writing and the outdoors. In the past, Marian has worked as an intern for the Great Lakes Writers Festival where she gained experience with marketing and event planning. She has also been an assistant editor for Seems literary magazine for the past two years where she has learned all about the publishing process. Both of these jobs have given her a wide range of skills that she knew she could bring to the table for GLC. She is excited to be helping GLC with a variety of writing projects including their monthly membership letter and some more creative descriptions of their beautiful properties. She is enjoying meeting new people and seeing lots of Wisconsin wildlife. When she is not writing for GLC, Marian enjoys running, reading, cuddling with her kitty, drinking good coffee, and spending time with her friends and family. |
