Property story
The Protected Property, located on the Niagara Dolomite geologic landform and along the Kewanuee River in the Lake Michigan Basin, abuts part of the C.D. Basadny Fish and Wildlife Area, and comprises approximately 34.04 acres with a riverine environmental corridor, hardwood floodplain forest, grasslands, wetlands, upland woods, open fields, pond, riverbank and scenic vistas. The land contains shrubs, trees, mixed grasslands and surface waters that provides wildlife habitat for birds, small mammals, upland game, native populations of fish and seasonal migration of trout and salmon, and migratory birds and raptors along the Lake Michigan Flyway corridor. The landowners have planted bur oak, sugar maple, white spruce, white cedar, white pine, and black walnut trees and installed a FWS pond.
