Riley Kerkhoff
Riley grew up in Green Bay where he learned to appreciate the natural world. Riley’s grandparents who co-founded Aldo Leopold Community School helped grow this appreciation throughout his younger years. Riley graduated with a degree in computer science in 2022 and quickly realized that this wasn't the path for him. Riley made the decision to return to the university of Green Bay to pursue a career in conservation and ecology.
Riley loves combining his passion for wildlife with traveling since going on travel courses in high school to places such as France, Spain, and Costa Rica. Last summer Riley worked with the Anegada rock iguana in the British Virgin islands, performing radio tracking, burrow surveys,
and camera trapping activities with one of the most endangered animals in the world. He participated in a scuba diving travel course in Mexico over winter break, exploring the coral reefs, cenotes, and coastal ecosystems of the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. Riley has been
working as a research assistant during the spring semester, working on a project to improve the water quality using various wetland plants.
After Riley graduates he hopes to continue helping restore and protect natural areas. In his free time Riley enjoys working out, photography, and music. He has been getting more involved in art and gardening as well. Riley is looking forward to becoming an uncle this summer and an upcoming family vacation to the Outer Banks in North Carolina this September.
